STORMVILLE, N.Y. — The Green Haven Correctional Facility in southern Dutchess County was locked down “out of an abundance of caution” after an inmate assaulted a corrections officer at the maximum-security facility, the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said Thursday.
The lockdown was instituted on Monday, Oct. 28, and the facility remained locked down Thursday as the department conducted “a full facility search for contraband,” department spokesman Thomas Mailey said in an email.
The officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, and the prisoner was moved to another maximum-security facility, Mailey said. He did not identify the prisoner or the injured officer.
