When convicted of a felony and awaiting sentencing the person becomes a “ward of the court”. A government agency who the acquires control of that person. They are remanded to the local short term holding facility. when the transport order is issued by the court and remanded to the state correctional system they become “wards” of the state whom assumes responsibility for that persons care.or freedom.
