Prison inmate admits to trying to obtain sharp object

WATERTOWN — A Cape Vincent Correctional Facility inmate admitted he attempted to obtain a sharp metal object hidden in a glove while incarcerated in March.

Jahnick Gainey, 22, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted promotion of prison contraband Wednesday in Jefferson County Court.

His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2019, when he faces a sentence of up to 1½ to three years in state prison.
