Burke County is putting tablets in the hands of inmates

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Some Burke County inmates are getting tablets. The sheriff's office says giving inmates access to a tablet every day may be just the ticket for creating less violent cell blocks.

The tablets allow inmates to entertain themselves, educate themselves, and even communicate with their loved ones. Major Chester Huffman says it's a win win.

With a scroll and a touch Burke County inmates have free educational opportunities at their fingertips.
