CONCORD, NH – Today, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in NH was able to safely arrest two fugitives that were featured as “Fugitives of the Week.”

Early Tuesday morning, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was able to locate and arrest “Fugitive of the week”, Adam Smart, 34. Smart had been wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants issued out of Belknap and Rockingham County Superior Courts, as well a NH Parole warrant. These warrants were for Failure to Appear on Cocaine charges and a Larceny warrant.

Smart had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” back on May 30th. Since this time, numerous tips had come in, but Smith was found to be moving around the country including Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada which were both beyond the extradition limits for the issued arrest warrants. Through the fugitive investigation and anonymous tipsters, information was developed that Smart had returned to New Hampshire and was living with a relative in Concord, NH.

Early this morning, members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force from the Belknap, Hillsborough, Rockingham & Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, the Greenfield Police Department, the Federal Protective Service, along with deputy U.S. Marshals went to the Brookwood Drive address. Smart was observed through the front door of the house, at which time he attempted to flee out a rear door. Smart was stopped at gunpoint and arrested without further incident.

Mr. Smart was transported to the Merrimack County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearances.

After the arrest of Adam Smart, the task force turned their attention on Fugitive of the Week, Branden Glass, 36. Mr. Glass was wanted on an outstanding Concord Police Department warrant for Sales of Cocaine X4. Glass had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” back on June 27th. During this investigation, Glass was attempting to stay one step ahead of investigators by moving from place to place on a frequent basis. Through a lot of investigation and patience surveilling several known locations throughout downtown Concord, Glass was seen getting into a vehicle on Concord Street this morning. Glass left the area by driving down multiple one-way streets going the wrong direction. The task force was able to locate Glass still driving the vehicle against the flow of traffic on Fayette Street, where he was stopped and arrested without further incident. Mr. Glass was turned over to the Concord Police Department for processing on his outstanding arrest warrant and will be held at the Merrimack County Jail pending his initial court appearance.

The “Fugitive of the Week” program is aired each Wednesday on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week” is distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers.

U.S. Marshal David Cargill, Jr. said “The Fugitive of the Week program, continues to be a great tool for law enforcement here in New Hampshire, the sheer volume of tips and the resulting safe and successful arrests proves the value of the partnerships between law enforcement, the media and the public.” Cargill continued, “On behalf of the United States Marshals Service and me personally, I want to thank everyone for supporting the “Fugitive of the Week” program and all the law enforcement officers throughout our great state.”

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 7,253 arrests (Updated as of 04/29/2018). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
