The Delaware Department of Corrections has treated 64 inmates with the flu so far this flu season, and starting Wednesday, children will not be able to visit the prisons — to prevent further spreading of the virus, officials said. The DOC is treating all prisoners with elevated temperatures and symptoms of the flu, officials said. The inmates are either being treated in the facility infirmaries or isolated in housing units. The living and treatment areas are also being disinfected several times a day. Children under age 16 will not be able to visit any jails, prisons or work release centers starting Wednesday morning. Officials did not say how long this will last for. There will be no changes to court schedules. Read More. |
