Alameda County inmate held in state prison homicide |

SOLEDAD — Officials at Salinas Valley State Prison are investigating an inmate’s death as a homicide, authorities said Tuesday. Staff members carrying out a security check of the area shortly after 11 a.m. saw inmate George Argueta, 26, lying on his cell’s floor. Sounding an alarm, staff pulled Argueta from the cell and found he was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper chest. After emergency life-saving measures failed to revive him, Argueta was pronounced dead after about 20 minutes. Read More. |
