MS Department Of Corrections Works To Help Ex-Offenders Back Into Workforce |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - The Mississippi Department of Corrections is begging businesses to hire ex-cons. The MDOC started a pre-release program to help ex-offenders re-enter society and have stable jobs. Officials with MDOC say these criminals have served their time and they deserve a second chance. “If they are working then they won't be out there committing other crimes, if they have meaningful employment,” says Matthew Riley. Riley is the statewide re-entry coordinator for the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The MDOC is calling on businesses in Mississippi to hire ex-offenders and give them a second chance.
