Hampton man serving 168-year murder sentence dies of apparent suicide |

A 20-year-old Hampton man serving time for a double murder he committed at a skate park on New Year’s Eve 2013 was found dead of an apparent suicide. Jordyn M. Charity, housed at Red Onion State Prison in Wise County and serving a 168-year sentence, died on Jan. 7, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, citing the Virginia Department of Corrections. Calls and emails to the Department of Corrections by the Daily Press Wednesday were not returned. There is no official word on how Charity committed suicide or where he was found dead. Charles Haden, an attorney in Yorktown, was assigned to Charity’s appeal in December following his Nov. 29 sentencing. Reached by telephone at home, Haden said he was not aware his client had died. “I did not know that. I cannot confirm it.
