Description: The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center located in Connell, WA. This is a full time evening shift working 2:00pm to 10:30pm with Sunday-Monday off. This posting will also be used to fill on-call positions as well. For additional information about our agency, please visit doc.wa.gov. COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri Cities. Previously a minimum custody facility with a capacity of 625 male offenders, CRCC recently completed a major expansion project that will house over 2,500 offenders and will help shape the future of corrections in Washington State. Balancing security functions with sustainability strategies, green-built Coyote Ridge Corrections Center is designed to protect both the public and the environment. Using 30% recycled materials, efficiency lighting controls and high-efficiency lamps, CRCC has achieved energy efficiency rates that exceed State requirements by more than 10 percent! The Licensed Practical Nurse supports the Department's mission by assisting others in the delivery of nursing services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjusting to various health conditions. This position also supports the mission of the Health Services division by providing necessary, comprehensive, quality health services and providing necessary, comprehensive, quality health services and promoting offender wellness. Duties The Licensed Practical Nurse 4 supports the agency mission and vision by providing direct care and special clinic management services in: •Screening, accessing and evaluating offenders and the conditions where they live and work to ensure they are well, safe and their health care is continuous. •Responds to all other requests for healthcare attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate, and therapeutic manner. •Participates in monitoring, managing and coordinating the delivery of healthcare and providing progress information to the shift supervisor. •Assisting patients to improve their skills and ability to provide care for themselves and their family. •Teaching, counseling and providing health care information that improves quality health services and/or enhances safety or security. The On-Call pool provides coverage in cases of extended vacation, illness, training, and other leaves of absence. On-call/intermittent staff is expected to:•Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays. •Be willing to work a minimum of 10 shifts per month. •Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage. •Be willing to complete six-weeks of full time, paid training at the Correctional Worker Core Academy, provided by the Department of Corrections. Qualifications Valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (or the ability to obtain), AND two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse. ** Note: Must have initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted licensure. •Certification by the American Heart Association in emergency first response. •Indicates skill and ability to perform basic nursing skills •Demonstrates nursing skill competency periodically as scheduled. •Able to use the computer to enter schedule, monitor and track patient information, word process and communicate via email.
